The Sad Facts of Chronic Yeast Infections

One moment your body is happily producing candida, as it should and then because of a number of circumstances or contributing factors, production gets out of control. This can occur either in or out of the body. Candida or yeast is a naturally occurring microorganism that is produced by the body. But when its production gets out of hand, the person ends up with what could be a chronic yeast infection

Resistance to treatments or the fact that it has become a recurrent affliction are two circumstances of chronic yeast infections. Chronic yeast infection may either be an indication of a serious illness or can contribute to much worse diseases.

Systemic candidal disease or chronic yeast infections can be quite deadly. The yeast takes over the body on a massive scale. So much so that only one in four people with chronic yeast infection survive. Simple yeast infections such as oral yeast infection and genital candida that isn't helped by common anti-fungal medication may already be causing other illnesses in the body.

Cancer, leukemia, AIDS and diabetes can all contribute to the spread and overgrowth of candida. They do this be weakening the body's immune system thereby upsetting the balance in the yeast production. The can lead to chronic yeast infection.

Individuals with AIDS can contract chronic yeast infection in the esophagus that may lead to infection of the entire gastro intestinal system and this is a severely painful condition. Chronic yeast infection in the gastro intestinal system can lead to improper absorption of food and cause the body to become weaker. Cuts and wounds on the skin may also allow the yeast to get into the blood stream and cause chronic yeast infection. It can lead to fevers and an infection to get into brain and affect mental functions.

Chronic yeast infections may cause memory loss, extreme mood swings, fatigue, and others.

Another form of chronic yeast infection is the chronic mucocutaneous candidiasis wherein rashes of yeast infection develop in the mouth, fingernails, scalp, and the extremities as well as on any part of the body. Rashes can look like scales, scabs, and lesions.

Constant appearances of thrush or chronic yeast infection is a common condition of individuals with either AIDS As the AIDS advances so does the body's inability to handle yeast production. This is also a condition noticed in cancer patients. Cancer patients not only have to deal with the weakening of their immune system but radiation and chemotherapy can also lead to chronic yeast infection

The relationship between sugar and yeast is well known. It also complicates the lives of diabetics. Because of the high sugar content in their saliva, they are frequently very open to chronic yeast infection starting in the mouth. This condition isn't just seen in the mouth and can be seen all over the body. It is known as diabetes mellitus.

Chronic yeast infections are very persistent and keep on coming back; they require medical attention and proper diagnosis. Superficial or not, yeast infection should be treated properly to avoid it from becoming a chronic condition.
